Innovation and Leadership Practices in Collections Care
One-day workshop for art museum professionals

This one-day workshop delved into applying intentional innovation and leadership practices to help collections managers to maximize their strengths in managing art museum collections on limited resources. We discussed how mentoring and coaching techniques can be used.
Workshop examined the following:

Techniques and methods used in mentoring programs, including the Arts Facilities Mentoring Network developed by ArtsBuild Ontario partnering with WorkinCulture.

How a professional coach can help a leader in the arts realize peak performance.

How the use of mentoring or coaching consultants can lead to increased organizational capacities in areas such as collections care.

Whether the public art gallery sector can create a mentor and coach "Bank" to enable new collections managers to find coaches and mentors to increase their skills and competencies, and enhance their organization's ability to meet art gallery and museum standards. She will also discuss her own experiences with mentoring and coaching related to collections care.
